Success stories:

The solution scope involved providing consultancy services to implement spatial technology for the development of smart city solutions in the industrial city of Yanbu. The scope included requirements analysis, studying existing drawings and data, customizing and designing data models, converting old drawings into digital format through scanning and migrating them into a centralized GIS database, developing web-based GIS applications, and providing end-user training.

Data was compiled from a vast number of drawings, including approximately 170,000 available in various formats and sources, covering an area of approximately 186.0 sq kms in Yanbu Industrial City, KSA. Customized data models were developed for different utility networks, and field surveys were conducted to ensure data accuracy.A web-based application was designed to comprehensively manage utility assets information, streamlining the business processes of the Operation & Maintenance Departments within the Industrial City. This encompassed requirements analysis, studying existing drawings and data, customizing, and designing data models, migrating data into the GIS environment, developing web-based GIS applications, and providing end-user training.

As a first part of integrated water management system, complete network of water transmission pipeline was mapped. WTS has one of the world's largest water transmission network available in centralized GIS. A comprehensive mapping of all pipeline components and their associated attributes has been completed.

A GIS-based water transmission system application has been developed to streamline the management of transmission pipeline networks and pipeline assets through a web-based solution. The developed system is characterized by its scalability, open architecture, and user-friendly interface, leveraging the latest development technologies. It serves as a decision support tool for the operation and maintenance, planning, and execution departments, facilitating efficient management of water transmission infrastructure.

The main scope of project was to protect WTS facilities from any damages due to improper encroachment(s), and to automate encroachment permit procedure to any outsider/WTS contractors who wants to encroach to the WTS facilities.

Through the integration of satellite imagery, cadastral maps, property records, and land use data, deployed GIS solution enables WTS authorities to visualize assets network, marked areas, encroachment patterns, assess encroachment risk, and prioritize areas for intervention. GIS-based encroachment monitoring systems facilitate regular surveillance of vulnerable areas, enabling authorities to detect unauthorized structures, illegal land occupation, and boundary violations in real-time or through periodic assessments.

The Economic & Planning dept, Royal Commission for Yanbu required comprehensive mapping and management of all pipelines within its premises, spanning heavy industry areas, light industry park areas, and the industrial port. The project objective was, collecting data from the 30 stakeholders, studying user needs, designing the system, mapping compiled data, conducting field surveys for the missing areas, verifying pipeline information through field visits, and developing GIS application for pipeline network management.

The GIS solution has effectively achieved the project goals by facilitating stakeholder coordination, mapping a total of 275 pipelines spanning 190 square kilometers. Field surveys were conducted to rectify missing areas, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The geodatabase schema was designed to meet the project requirements, with pipeline information seamlessly integrated into the database tables. Furthermore, a centralized application was developed, offering crucial map navigation features, identification tools, and advanced GIS networking capabilities for thorough data analysis.
